Helen comes from a musical family. Her grandfather was a professional violinist and her great aunt founded The Chopin Society. Helen’s love of singing was encouraged by her parents and developed by her music teacher who inspired her to take singing grades and to compete in national and international festivals.
As part of a choir, Helen has appeared on television and radio. In recent years, she has had tremendous fun treading the boards in old time music halls as well as taking part in plays at the local theatre. Helen joined Chiltern Harmony in 1998 and was instantly bitten by the bug of barbershop singing (try saying that after a few glasses of wine).
Shortly after joining, she became a section leader and later formed a quartet called
“Cheek to Cheek” who sang together for 3 years, entertaining at many functions and winning awards at the LABBS national convention.
In 2005 she became Musical Director of Chiltern Harmony, joined a new quartet called “Notorious” and acquired a wonderful rescue dog who shares the house with her husband and two children, who are also wonderful!
