About Us ...continued

Some highlights of our 25 years:

In 1994 we won the coveted Gold medal at the LABBS national convention.

In 1996 we were the winners of the ‘Single Voice’ adult choir award in the Sainsbury’s Choir of the Year Competition.  That year we also travelled to Columbus Ohio to compete in the ‘Buckeye Invitational’.

Over the years
the quartets coming from our ranks have won a variety of medals between them.  Two have won Gold medals in the annual LABBS quartet competition:   Tapestry (1991) and Fever Pitch (1995).

In 2004
we ran a six week singing course, ‘Find Your Voice’ where 20 area women joined members of the chorus to explore the art of singing in four part harmony.  Ten of those women enjoyed the course so much they decided to audition for the chorus.

In 2007
we will celebrate our 25 years as a chorus with a special anniversary Show at the Watersmeet Theatre, Rickmansworth, in June, and with various other events.

About our MD

Helen Lappert joined Chiltern Harmony in 1998 and was instantly bitten by the bug of barbershop singing.  Soon after, she became a section leader, and decided to try quartetting as well.  In January 2005 she took on the directorship of the chorus.  In 2006, under her leadership Chiltern Harmony took 5th place in the national LABBS competition.  She directs with energy, enthusiasm, a careful ear for the music, and a sense of humour that knows no bounds!  Helen lives in Radlett with her husband, two children and a rescue dog called Maggi.
